About the Artist

Tim Cross

Inspired by the culture and landscapes surrounding his hometowns of Seattle and Everett,  Tim Cross’s Lakeside, displayed at the Madison Park Veterinary Hospital, is a playful affair, a fleeting arrangement of scrims that incorporate drawing, painting and sculpture.  In essence, his work is a landscape, but it is also an abstract sculpture resembling many things.  Tim’s goal with this work is simple: to make something that is fun and beautiful for the hospital and the public.  He likes the idea of putting artwork that is usually found inside, out on the street, making it vulnerable to the world and, thus, changing a little in the process.

As a Northwest teenager, Tim liked to make music, but, ultimately, this was overshadowed by a greater interest in plastic arts; he worked simultaneously in printmaking, clay, found objects, and painting.  He has continued to explore various mediums and has discovered that drawing is at the center of the expansive practice he currently enjoys.

He received a B.A. from The Evergreen State College, and an MFA from The School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
