About the Artist

Justin Lytle’s artistic career began as an actor in theater arts.  He developed a nuanced craft in the theater company, but over time became increasingly interested in having direct control over his artistic voice.  He soon gravitated toward the visual art world.  A symbolic change to his career manifested itself in Justin’s theatrical performance in The Farewells, a play by Director Aram Kouyoumdjian, in which a couples’ marriage bond becomes fraught with questions and regretted decisions.  Determined not to have any of his own regrets, Justin immersed himself in a new aesthetic and earned his BFA at the Cornish College of the Arts in 2009.   With a laser-sharp focus, he created a new artistic by de-constructing an old, perfectly bound, hand stitched book into an unfound sculptural.

Albatross  -  Featured Installation for MadArt in the Park

Enter through the feathers into the belly of our harbinger, fallen from the sky. After consuming bright and shiny distractions, it can no longer fly. Like the Ancient Mariner, the Albatross hangs around our necks as we rifle through the world searching for that next bit of treasure.
