Mad Homes

About the Exhibition

July 16 - August 7, 2011

711 Bellevue Avenue E.

Seattle, WA 98102

In 2011, prior to salvage, a group of neighboring homes, in North Capitol Hill, was used by artists to create site specific installations. Artists were free to use both the interior and exterior spaces of the homes as their creative canvases to produce dynamic art installations. The homes provided a noteworthy venue for the public to view art. Artists were provided a unique opportunity to work in a temporary space, without conventional gallery show constraints. The selected artists’ works included energetic and innovative paintings and sculptures. MadArt’s goal for this art project was to provide unexpected enjoyment and a distinctive educational experience for the neighborhood and visitors, while providing local artists a valuable and rare opportunity to create artwork.

Artists included: Troy Gua, Julia Haack, Meg Hartwig, Luke Haynes, Amanda Manitach, Ryan Molenkamp, Allan Packer, Jason Puccinelli in collaboration with Elizabeth Potter, Sutton Beres Culler, Laura Ward, & Allyce Wood.

Bryan Ohno, Director of MadArt's 2011 Mad Homes Project.
